We need to improve our local shopping centres. That’s why I’ve supported local developers as they invest in WV, for example on Wellington Way where we are seeing refurbishment of first floor flats and new business starting up ok the ground floor.
But we need to go further which is why I’ll work to bring in more retailers and leisure facilities. We need to make WV a vibrant and welcoming shopping centre of which we can be proud.
We are already seeing huge progress in Fareham: with a new entertainment venue opening later this year (Fareham Live) and a new Bowling Alley which opened last year. The local council’s plan to regenerate is a good one which I support.
And in Portchester we need to ensure that we restore the public realm so I will work to ensure that better services are provided there.
