I am urging car owners to lock their vehicles, following a spate of thefts in Fareham.
Thieves have targeted cars along Hunts Pond Road, Warsash and across other areas of Fareham.
Hampshire police figures show that 164 cars were targeted in Fareham between August 19 and November 13, a total of 86 days. Thieves are continuing to target the area and also operate in neighbouring Gosport.
I met with local Police Officers at Highlands Hub, where I learnt about the growing problem in the area. Items that have been stolen from cars vary in value and have included sat navs, sunglasses and personal belongings.
The best protection against thieves is stopping them from being able to access your car in the first place.
Car owners need to ensure they lock their cars when they leave them unattended, otherwise items will be targeted.
We know thieves operate in the area and while Hampshire Constabulary are working hard to stop them, all drivers have a responsibility to protect their property.
If anyone spots suspicious behaviour they must contact the police and report it immediately.
