I visited Lloyds Bank on West Street in Fareham today to discuss their work in tackling fraud.
I learnt about their work with the Banking Protocol and other support offered by Lloyds and the Fareham branch in protecting those at risk of fraud.
The Banking Protocol is an initiative between the police, banking institutions and Trading Standards. Its aim is at the earliest opportunity to identify vulnerable victims who are in the process of being defrauded of funds from their bank accounts by unscrupulous criminals and to intervene to prevent these crimes.
Thank you to the team for taking the time to discuss with me the work they do in protecting vulnerable customers, as well as their wider work with the community in Fareham.
I am pleased that our community and highstreets bankers take their role in supporting customers at risk of fraud as seriously as they do and are proactively working to tackle exploitative criminals.
