On Friday 9th February, Suella Braverman MP met with Year 10 and 11 students at Portchester Community School.
Suella was pleased to speak with pupils about their interests in politics and answer questions about the role of an MP. Suella spoke about the work she undertakes locally as the MP for Fareham and the wider duties, responsibilities and roles of MPs in Westminster. This was followed by an engaging discussion on current affairs where Suella was able to learn more about the pupils’ thoughts on current events.
Suella was delighted to be interviewed by a team of Portchester students who asked her a number of tough and fun questions, which will soon be published in the school’s monthly newsletter.
During her visit, Suella was also taken on a tour of the school by Portchester’s headteacher, Mr. Richard Carlyle, and received positive updates on the school’s recent progress.
Commenting, Suella said:

They were really engaged; it’s great to see so many young people curious about politics and taking an active interest in it. I also enjoyed taking part in an interview for the school newsletter.
