I was honoured to lay a wreath during the poignant Remembrance Day parade and service today in Fareham.
I would like to say thank you to all those who made it a fitting tribute to our heroes.
Yesterday (Saturday) I attended the Portchester Remembers Service. I would like to also thank David Meatcher, Rev Paul Bedford and all the volunteers at Sarisbury Green United Reform Church for hosting ‘Songs the Soldiers sang’ sing-along this afternoon. I was pleased to visit the exhibition with local Cllr Jon Butts to mark the Centenary of the end of World War 1 and learn about local heroes who fought in the Great War.
Everything from ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary’ to ‘Pack up your troubles’ was performed by the excellent choir and the war poetry recited was very moving. A fitting remembrance for the ultimate sacrifices made for our freedom.
