I met residents of Roxburgh House, in Locks Heath, to discuss a planned hike in the weekly service charge.
The property is managed by Hyde Housing, which recently notified residents of its service charge estimate for 2018/19, which has been revised from £0.59 for most residents to up to £49.95 per week.
This substantial increase in the weekly service charge is deeply concerning. It is totally unacceptable for residents to be ripped off in this way and it has left many, including elderly pensioners, distressed and unsure about their future or how they will be able to afford to live. Hyde Housing are yet to even provide a justification for the increase, as no new services or works have been planned.
I met with residents on Saturday to discuss their concerns over the increase, and I have arranged for residents to meet with Hyde Housing representatives tomorrow. I will also be holding further conversations as matters develop.
