Fareham MP Suella Braverman was back in Fareham away from Westminster in support of local businesses. On a series of local visits the MP called in on Fareham-based Silver Lining Convergence Ltd, where she was pleased to meet Allan Packer, the Director of the company, who told Suella about the firm’s ambitious plans for growth and supporting apprenticeships for young people in the area.
The Hampshire based IT experts, alongside Suella Braverman, are strong advocates of schools and professional development opportunities for young people in the area, with the company having supported the Daily Echo Education Awards and an apprenticeship fair run by the MP. Managing Director told the MP of the firm’s expansion plans and the potential for new local jobs – news which comes on the back of recent claimant count figures for Fareham holding steady at 0.9% of the economically active population, compared to a national average of 3.1%.
Upon meeting staff, Suella said:
“I was pleased to have the opportunity to visit a growing local business that gives a lot back to the local community. The support they offer for local charities is invaluable and the apprenticeships they offer are an important step in keeping young talent in the area. After meeting the team at Silver Lining I will be going back to Westminster and speaking to ministers to ensure that businesses such as this one can continue to flourish.”
