Equalities and rights: Conflict and the need for clarity
On Wednesday 10th August, Attorney General Suella Braverman spoke at Policy Exchange about equalities and human rights.
In her speech, Suella sets out the legal position under the Equality Act 2010 in relation to balancing rights of those people who claim protection of ‘gender reassignment’ and those people who seek protection of rights defined by biological sex. Both public and private bodies are struggling to understand their obligations and this statement is intended to provide clarity to service-providers, in particular schools, teachers, local authorities, and parents.
