On Friday 29th July, Suella was delighted to host her Fareham Senior Citizens’ Fair again, for the first time since the pandemic. Many elderly residents gathered at Fareham Leisure Centre to visit an array of local organisations that provide support for senior residents in the local community.
All too often we hear about the problems that can accompany the ageing process, including loneliness and isolation. Understanding this, Suella wanted to hold this event to raise awareness of the support that exists in Fareham.
The following organisations took part in this year’s fair:
1. Age Concern Hampshire
2. Agincare
3. Churchill Retirement Homes
4. Cinnamon Trust
5. Community First – Dial-A-Ride
6. Community First – Home Support Services
7. Community First – Shopmobility
8. Connect to Support Hampshire (HCC)
9. Fareham Citizens Advice Bureau
10. Fareham Leisure Centre – Everyone Active Over 50
11. Fareham Macular Group

22. Parkinson UK Fareham and District Branch
23. Recapture Life
24. Rowan’s Hospice

This free community event provided stallholders with an excellent opportunity for reaching out to elderly residents in need of support and advice. Suella was pleased to hear guests saying, that without coming to this event, they wouldn’t have known about many of the support groups on offer to them in Fareham.
Suella is excited to host this event again next year and is looking to invite more stallholders to raise the profile and reach of this important community event. If you missed out on this year’s fair and would like to take part next year, please email Suella at [email protected].
Commenting, Suella said:
“I’m really pleased to have held this event for the first time since the pandemic and my thanks to Fareham Leisure Centre for hosting us. We had a great range of stalls that showcased a large variety of groups that exist to support elderly residents. We had health information and support groups, social clubs, shopping support groups, activity groups, assisted living organisations and many more fantastic groups.
I had the pleasure of speaking with all the stallholders individually, most of whom generously volunteer their time to help our local community by supporting those of us in our latter years. It’s great to see so many people dedicated to helping those in need of support – we really do have an excellent support network in Fareham.
Thank you to everyone who took part and to all those who visited. I can’t wait to put this event on next year and to see you all soon!”
