Last week, Suella visited local avionic engineering business, Parker Meggitt, at their site in Segensworth. Suella was taken on a tour and given an overview on what Parker Meggitt do, the products they make and where they can be found.
Parker Meggitt is a global engineering group specialising in extreme environment components and sub-systems for the aerospace, defence and energy markets. They deliver technologically differentiated systems and products with high certification requirements in aerospace, defence and selected energy markets.
They employ about 12,000 people at manufacturing facilities across Asia, Europe and the Americas, as well as their regional bases in India and the Middle East. At their site in Segensworth, they employ 330 people.
Suella was impressed by their cutting-edge technology, some of which is used by the Ministry of Defence. Their flight displays and sensors are used in a wide range of aircraft, including in large aircraft, biz jets, fighters and transport helicopters.
Suella was pleased to learn about their ambitious plans and commitment to supporting the development and training of skills for the future workforce at their Fareham site. Like Suella, Parker Meggitt is passionate about supporting apprenticeships. Through apprenticeships, Parker Meggitt is creating opportunities to earn while you learn, and also benefitting wider society by enabling us to have a skilled workforce with boosted productivity.
Commenting, Suella Said:
“I was delighted to visit the Parker Meggitt Fareham site to hear about the important work they do in the design and manufacture of critical technology for the aerospace and defence industries. Developing the next generation of talent is a subject very close to my heart and it is good to see Parker Meggitt’s ongoing investment in creating meaningful work and developing the skills of our future leaders.
“Great cohort of apprentices and engineers leading the world’s aviation sector here in the heart of Fareham! Thank you for taking the time to show me around.”
