A group of community and health representatives have met to discuss plans to support vulnerable people in Fareham.
The Vulnerable Persons Forum, which I launched earlier this year, works to address issues facing the most in need and at risk in Fareham.
At the recent meeting – attended by Fareham Citizen Advice Bureau, Fareham & Gosport CCG, Fareham Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, Hampshire Constabulary, and others – representatives discussed improving access to support for local people suffering with mental health issues, domestic violence, are unemployed, isolated, disabled, elderly, homeless or have drug or alcohol addiction.
While the Forum is working on long term priorities, since its last meeting new kiosks with Citizen Advice information and signposting to relevant support services across the area have been set up.
There is a lot of support out there but for vulnerable people it can be difficult to access that support - I am pleased that the forum is already making changes.
I would like to thank Chief Inspector Sharon Woolrich, Fareham Borough Council, Cllr Trevor Cartwright, Hampshire County Council and many other teams who attended this meeting and for all the excellent work that they are doing to support Fareham residents.
