Portsmouth Historic Dockyards were the setting for the 10mile run in which over 20,000 took part this year. It was great atmosphere, and the luckily, the sun shone brightly and the autumn rain stayed away.
I was pleased to complete the 10mile course, which started on Clarence Esplanade in Southsea and took us through Old Portsmouth, home of the Portsmouth Cathedral, before entering the Historic Dockyard where we were allowed to run past the Royal NAvy's current naval ships- some of the most famous in the world like HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Mary Rose museum. It was a course steeped in history dating as far back as 1212 and we were boosted by the hundreds of cheerleaders, bands and amazing support from local residents and spectators. I enjoyed the run, with fellow MPs, Mims Davies and Caroline Nokes and running buddy Robert Ellis.
Thank you to everyone who kindly donated to my sponsorship appeal. I was pleased to raise over £700 for the The Haven Breast Cancer Care Centre in Titchfield. Thanks should go to Sarisbury Residents' Association and Locks Heath Womens' Institute who collected donations on my behalf. And to the anonymous donor who kindly gave £100 on my Just Giving page. Hugely encouraging support.
