I know that, like me, many local residents are opposed to Fareham Borough Council’s plans to rename Knowle Road.
I spoke with Mark Thistlethwayte, Buckland Development, who agreed Knowle Road should retain its name. I then relayed my concerns with Cllr Simon Martin, Executive Leader of FBC, in conversation and in writing.
Unfortunately, FBC’s position on this matter remains unchanged, and they have made the decision to change parts of the road’s name. Due to statutory consultation with the Post Office and the protocols existing for road naming and distinction of the access directly into Knowle, there is very little that can be done to keep the name for all parts of the road.
I am sorry that this is not the outcome many of you were looking for.
