I recently visited the West Street Barclays Branch in Fareham, to talk about the new pound coin and to discuss local business.
I talked about the local economy with Christopher Maynard – the Barclays Community Banking Director for the area – and heard about the Barclays Apprenticeship programme, which totals 3,000 apprentices across the country. I also discussed the work of Barclays in supporting local businesses and charities as part of its community approach to banking and met the staff working at the Fareham branch.
I was impressed to learn about Barclay’s apprenticeship programme offered to young people at local branches. It was also insightful to hear about the process of phasing out the old pound coins, and replacing them with the new ones. I was also shown how the new pound coins, which were launched at the end of last month, are replacing the old coins in banks up and down Britain.
I enjoyed the visit and would like to thank the team at the Fareham branch for talking through with me the many ways Barclays supports the local community and businesses in our area.
