It is always pleasure to meet with members of the armed forces. During my visit to the Portsmouth ACC I gained an invaluable insight into the recruitment and selection process for the Army, and how the process of taking those first steps of visiting an Army Careers Centre and speaking to an advisor, all the way through to starting training. At every stage of the process the excellent advisors at the Portsmouth ACC, and across the country, provide support and guidance to ensure to applicants are placed in a role that is right for them.
Whilst I was at Portsmouth ACC I also had the honour of presenting the Army’s annual award for Innovation and Improvement. This year the award went to Sarah Warren – who joined the Portsmouth team back in March – for her innovative use of social media. Candidates can now connect with careers staff so they can answer questions and give advice, and also so applicants can communicate with and meet other people in the selection process, to give them added confidence as they take their first steps towards a career in the Army. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Portsmouth ACC for all the work they do, and congratulate Sarah on her achievement
