I spoke with the leaders of Woodlands Nursery and Sarisbury Green Pre-School about a new childcare scheme the government is rolling out this September.
Parents who have kids of a pre-primary school age are eligible to apply for 30 hours of free childcare. It allows eligible working parents to get access to 30 hours of free childcare per week, freeing up time for them to focus on their jobs and careers. The scheme applies to kids who will be three-years-old on August 31.
Mums and dads across the county are struggling to balance the cost of childcare with the benefits of being at work, with many opting not to work and becoming full-time carers for their children.
This new policy really shows that the government is on the side of working families. It will mean significant savings for millions of people and households, and support parents to return to work, whilst also helping parents to be back at work, if that is what they want.
I would like to say a big thank you to Woodlands Nursery and Sarisbury Green Pre-School for talking with me. It’s great to see a positive response from local childcare providers for this new support for parents.
