I had a great afternoon meeting the inspirational people who run, and members of, Fareham's Friends Through Pain
The group provides support for people who suffer day to day with a wide variety of conditions and the friends and family who look after them.
Members all suffer from chronic, long term pain that can lead to depression, anxiety and problems with sleeping as well as the daily discomfort. In most cases, their pain is not visible to others, making it difficult for others to understand their struggle.
The group was founded by Fareham resident Brenda Hadfield, who herself suffers from chronic pain, and aims to get members out of the house and to help people to learn how to deal with their pain. The group organises days out, lunches and social evenings.
Brenda also founded ‘Partners Through Pain’, a similar group operating in Gosport.
The volunteers do an invaluable job supporting people to manage their chronic pain. People with conditions that mean they suffer from long-term pain should get in touch with the group.
