Suella Braverman was pleased to announce that the UK Government is making the biggest ever investment in longer term accommodation for rough sleepers and its ongoing 'Everyone In' programme has supported more than 37,000 people into long term accommodation. Local councils and their partners can apply for support from the £266 million fund, helping make sure people continue to have a safe place to stay and can begin to rebuild their lives with wrap-around services and care.
The MP for Fareham has also welcomed the fact that as a result, encouraging progress continues to be made, with the rough sleeping count for autumn 2020 showing a 37 per cent fall in rough sleeping compared to 2019 - the third year in a row during which the count of rough sleeping has declined. This speaks to the excellent work of homelessness charities including those in Fareham, more funding to help rough sleepers and vulnerable people, as well as increased accommodation provision and improved mental health services. Similarly, Suella Braverman was glad that charities are receiving an additional £6.4 million in funding to provide accommodation and referral services for rough sleepers. Our mission is to end rough sleeping once and for all.
