Suella has recently expressed her support for Fareham Borough Council's bid for the Government’s Levelling Up Fund. The following bid is being developed that focuses on two of the fund’s priorities; investment in the regeneration of the town centre and cultural facilities. These will include:
• Construction of Fareham Live, a new arts and entertainment venue comprising an 800-seat theatre, with secondary performance space, studio and community facilities.
• Modernisation of the adjacent Osborn Road Multi-Storey Car Park: Full refurbishment of the car park to modern standards, extending the life by 15 years, whilst upgrading facilities including wider spaces, improved lighting and security, and electric vehicle charging points, to enhance the user experience of Fareham Live customers and town centre shoppers.
These projects would represent the first major step of the Council’s town centre regeneration vision, bringing several wide-ranging benefits to the Borough. They would also help improve the vibrancy and vitality of the town as well as delivering enhanced, modern and accessible cultural facilities to the sub-region. Similarly, the projects will provide much needed community space within the town centre area, whilst engendering private investment in the retail, commercial and housing sectors.
