The MP for Fareham was honoured to cut the ribbon for the opening of local bridal shop Margaux Mae Bridal. The new store showcases the very best in wedding dress design from across the UK and as far afield as Manhattan, New York. Suella was delighted to meet Andrea Dargon the shop’s founder, who recently left a previous job to pursue her dream.
Andrea’s story provides an important example to all entrepreneurs. It highlights that small to medium sized enterprises are beginning to take off in the post-pandemic boom. The last two years have been an incredibly difficult time for businesses, many of which have experienced reduced demand or footfall, as well as some financial difficulties. Over 99 per cent of all UK businesses are SMEs, and the Government is therefore committed to championing independent businesswomen such as Andrea.
Considering the recent Omicron variant, I am pleased that the Chancellor has recently announced over £1 billion in support for businesses most impacted by Omicron. Under this scheme, businesses will be protected from eviction if they are behind on rent on their premises, thanks to the moratorium in place until March 2022, similarly access to finance for SMEs through the Recovery Loan Scheme will be implemented until June; and finally Bounce Back Loan repayment flexibility will be implemented, with borrowers having the option to take a 6 month repayment holiday, three 6 month interest only periods or extend their loan to 10 years, which almost halves the monthly payment.
Commenting Andrea Dargon, of Margeaux Mae Bridal Said:
“At Margaux Mae Bridal we specialise in timeless, elegant couture gowns that make brides look exquisite on their wedding day. This has really resonated with local brides, and I’m thrilled to say we have been really busy since opening. We have British designers and local brands wherever possible. I make a point to recommend any local suppliers where I can, I’m a collaboration over competition kind of person! The new boutique in West Street is light, bright and spacious; I absolutely adore it! We are an independent luxury boutique but with a warm welcome to everybody who comes, which sometimes people don’t get at larger shops. For instance, the bridal party will always be offered tea and coffee. I was surprised to hear from a recent bridal party that I was the first boutique to offer this to them! So, as well as high quality dresses you also received high quality customer service from start to finish. Being in the bridal fashion industry has been a lifelong dream of mine and I’m so thrilled I can help brides find their dream dresses. This passion and enthusiasm shines through in my customer service.”
Commenting Suella Said:
