Suella Braverman MP recently joined Google and Parent Zone at St Columba C of E Primary School to take part in their ‘Be Internet Legends’ assembly. Be Internet Legends is an interactive educational programme from Google and Parent Zone which helps primary school children across the UK become safer and more confident explorers of the online world.
Developed in close collaboration with experts, children and schools, Be Internet Legends focuses on five internet safety pillars:
•Being Sharp about what they share.
•Being Alert to scams and phishing attacks.
•Being Secure by creating strong passwords and looking after their personal information.
•Being Kind to others online.
•Being Brave by talking to trusted adults when they come across something they’re not sure about.
The assembly saw children learning about the online dangers presented in each of the pillars and provided useful insights on how to avoid these dangers. Thanks to the assembly, pupils at St Columba C of E Primary School can now feel confident in using the internet safely.
Be Internet Legends also produces a wide range of fun and useful activities for parents and teachers to help educate young children about internet safety. These free resources are available online at: https://parentzone.org.uk/beinternetlegends.
Suella was pleased to speak to children about the importance of staying safe on the internet and welcomed Parent Zone’s campaign to provide this crucial information for free. To date, Parent Zone have reached over four million children across the UK and are delighted to now include the pupils of St Columba C of E Primary School in Fareham in this number.
Commenting, Suella said:

“With our children accessing the internet from such an early age, it’s vital that we teach them how to use it safely. The Be Internet Legends’ session was a fun and useful way of achieving this.”
“My thanks to Google and Parent Zone for putting on the assembly and for all their work in helping over four million children with staying safe online.”
