Last month, Suella attended a meeting with her Fareham Community Hospital (FCH) Taskforce to discuss performance updates of the local hospital in Fareham. Building on FCH’s positive usage figures from last year, Suella was delighted to learn that FCH’s overall utilisation has continued to grow.
The overall utilisation of FCH continues to rise as anticipated. Figures show that overall utilisation in 2022 grew to 46.8% which is an increase on the previous year (2021) of 2.4%.
Reviewing the full year data for 2021 the average utilisation across the 12-month period was 44.3%. Positively, the 2022 average is significantly higher at 51.7%, which is higher than pre-pandemic levels at 41.95%.
Notably, November 2022 recorded the highest monthly full building utilisation at 59% due to the installation of new monitoring equipment.
As with other members of the Taskforce, Suella saw these results as a testament to the time taken by all partners to actively promote and develop services to operate from the facility.
Since 2019, the Taskforce has been pursuing recommendations from their ‘Future Vision report’. One of their recommendations stressed the need to provide more long-term medical treatments at FCH. As part of this, the Taskforce successfully facilitated the delivery of a brand-new 10-station Chemotherapy Unit in March 2022. Building on this achievement, the Taskforce have continued with their plans to introduce further long-term medical treatments at FCH.
Suella was delighted to receive a promising update on the Taskforce’s plan to introduce a brand-new Renal Dialysis Unit. With work to create the new unit already well-underway, Suella was thrilled to learn that the new Renal Dialysis Unit is expected to open to the local community as early as this Summer.
Commenting, Suella Said:
“Increasing the use of Fareham Community Hospital has been a goal of mine for many years. Last year we saw impressive usage stats, with the overall usage of Fareham Community Hospital increasing from 37.6 per cent to 50.9 per cent. The recent figures showing a rise in overall utilisation by 2.4 per cent is a testament to the hard work of the time taken by all partners to advance and improve the hospital’s services for Fareham residents.
“In the past, Fareham Community Hospital’s facilities have been underused and neglected. I’ve campaigned for a long time to change this and sought to introduce more long-term medical treatments at the hospital.
“Introducing the 10-station Chemotherapy Unit last year was a momentous occasion for Fareham Community Hospital. Rightly so, I welcome that further progress is being made to introduce more long-term medical treatments.
“It’s fantastic to learn that Fareham Community Hospital is on track to open their brand-new Renal Dialysis Unit this Summer. This will make a significant difference to the lives of those in Fareham who receive dialysis treatment on a regular basis. I look forward to visiting the new unit upon its completion in the near future.”
