On Friday 22nd July, Suella Braverman MP joined specialists from Google to host a Google Digital Garage workshop. The event consisted of a full day of digital skills training for local businesses, entrepreneurs, and the community as a whole. The event offered Fareham businesses several training sessions, 1:1 mentoring with digital skills trainers, and peer-to-peer networking.
The MP for Fareham addressed attendees, stressing the need for businesses to be able to utilise the digital tools available to them. Suella highlighted the importance of events such as the Google Digital Garage workshops, which provide comprehensive training from experts to help businesses succeed in an increasingly online world.
The professionals from Google gave expert advice on how Fareham business owners can grow their enterprises, maximise outreach and increase uptake from potential stakeholders. The workshop also provided an opportunity for local professionals and business owners to articulate their thoughts on what further support the Government can offer to help SMEs thrive.
Over the last five years the Google Digital Garage programme has trained over 800,000 small businesses and individuals, providing free digital skills training in person and online across more than 500 cities, towns, and villages.
Commenting, Suella said:
“In an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible and open to learning new skills that help businesses to thrive, and create opportunities for those looking to change jobs or find work, is more important than ever.
“Digital skills are vital at all levels, from the basics people need to make the most of online connectivity, to skills needed in every job, to the high-level skills for the growing number of specialist jobs in the economy.
“I’d like to thank Google for putting together this important workshop to help you, the business owner, seize the initiative in the online sphere.”
